After acquiring both the hardware and software components, connect the dongle and open the SixAxis Enabler app. Connect the controller, and the message at the top should indicate that the Sixaxis is connected, at which point you will need to press the PS button on your controller.
A couple things should be noted if the app doesn't recognize the device. It is recommended to only use a Sony brand controller, so if you try a third-party controller and it does not connect, this is likely the reason. Replace the disc again. It should then start speeding up again. Replace the disc again, and it should start running. I believe this can also be done with the slim PS2, but you have to open it up in order to block one of the disc tray sensors.
The method described for the PS1 is know as the double swap method. Anything is possible when making your console do things it wasn't made to do and if you brick your console because you missed a step, deviated from the instructions or just went gung-ho on your console then that's your fault. OFW 2. HFW 3. Its not strictly necessary to reinstall OFW 4. All you need for this is a USB flash drive. Format your flash drive to FAT32 4.
