As the safety is on, the hammer is not cocked, and pulling the trigger will not cock the hammer. Single action shooting: With the safety catch Off, cock the hammer by pulling it back with your thumb. The slightest pressure on the trigger will shoot the firearm Double action shooting: With the safety catch Off, pull the trigger back. Each subsequent shot automatically cocks the hammer. The large but protected mag release is located in the US position behind the trigger on the left. Other controls include the left-side slide catch above the trigger and fairly stiff slide-mounted decocking safety. The gun has a mag safety, and the slide locks back on an empty mag.
A generous beavertail tang eliminates the hammer bite typical of PPK designs. The action is conventional double action DA 1st shot and SA thereafter. The trigger pull is estimated at about 11 lb DA and 5 lb SA but is very smooth to ensure quick deployment in an emergency. This upscale model features a richly blued high-polish black steel slide and finish-matched alloy frame. Outside edges are contoured to reduce snags.

The original Bersa single-stack mags are black sheet steel with witness holes, white alloy followers, and removable polymer floor plates.
The 8-rd mag has an extended floor plate, and the 7-rd mag has a standard flat floor plate with a pinkie lip. This is a great deal on a well-built auto-pistol from Bersa! Bore condition is Excellent and bright although there is evidence of previous firing on the breach and hammer faces. It has been shot, but not extensively.
